Lois B. Allen, 86, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, July 30, 2018 at Golden Years in Harrisonville. Lois was born January 7, 1932 in Cherryvale, KS, a daughter of Guy Clementine and Edith Christine (Root) Friley. She was a 1949 graduate of Ashland, Oregon High School.

Lois was united in marriage to Robert Arthur Allen on May 28, 1950 in Cherryvale, KS. With Robert, she was a pastor’s wife for over 35 years in the Church of the Nazarene. Together, they served churches in Kansas, Arkansas, Oregon, California, Washington and Nevada. During this time, Lois also held jobs in hospital administration, pre-school education and funeral home administration. Robert and Lois were blessed with five sons; Kenneth Ray, Robert Wayne, Ronald Murl, Donald Earl and Randall Lee.

In 1993, Lois and Robert retired to Cherryvale to help care for Lois’s mother, Edith, and in 2009 moved to Harrisonville to be closer to family.

Lois was preceded in death by her father, Guy, in 1973; her mother, Edith, in 2005; two sons, Kenneth Ray Allen in 2013 and Randall Lee Allen in 2008.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Allen, Harrisonville, MO; three sons, Robert (Barbara) Allen, Vancouver, WA, Ron Allen, Bad Berleberg, Germany, and Don (Donna) Allen, Harrisonville; two daughters-in-law, Peggy (Kenneth) Allen, Vancouver, WA, and Annette (Randall) Allen, Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Cremation with services at a later date.

Robert Arthur Allen, 89, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, August 27, 2018 at Golden Years Care Center in Harrisonville. Cremation with services at a later date.

Robert was born May 10, 1929 in Albany, Oregon, a son of Arthur Ray and Vesta Loraine (Myers) Allen. He was a 1947 graduate of Ashland, Oregon High School. He furthered his education at the University of Nevada. Robert was united in marriage to Lois Burlene Friley on May 28, 1950 in Cherryvale, KS. He and Lois were blessed with five sons, Kenneth Ray, Robert Wayne, Ronald Murl, Donald Earl, and Randall Lee.

Robert was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene on September 2, 1960. Together, he and Lois served churches in Kansas, Arkansas, Oregon, California, Washington and Nevada for 35 years. He began painting landscapes in 1958 and did so until 2009. In 1993, Lois and Robert retired to Cherryvale to help care for Lois’s mother, Edith, and in 2009 moved to Harrisonville to be closer to family. During retirement he served as interim pastor for local churches, continued to paint and began wood carving. Robert enjoyed listening to music.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, 2018, his father, Arthur, in 1970, his mother, Vesta, in 1987, one sister, Donna, three brothers, Dick, Bill and Ed, and two sons, Ken in 2013 and Randy in 2008. He is survived by one brother, Gene Allen of Eagle Point, OR; three sons, Robert (Barbara) Allen, Vancouver, WA, Ron Allen, Bad Berleberg, Germany, and Don (Donna) Allen, Harrisonville; two daughters-in-law, Peggy (Kenneth) Allen, Vancouver, WA and Annette (Randall) Allen, Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
