Notes for Matilda MAGRUDER
Matilda was the daughter of Dr. Jeffrey Magruder and his wife, Susanna Bowie Magruder. She married her cousin, Fielder Magruder on 12 May 1806 in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Fielder and Matilda Magruder resided at "Old Orchard" in what is now the Bladensburg area of Prince George's County, Maryland. After Fielder died, Matilda remained at Old Orchard, but it was then known as "Widow's Dower".

Matilda was disinterred from the Magruder Family Cemetery in the 1960s and reburied at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.

Notes for Fielder (Spouse 1)
Fielder was the youngest child of Haswell Magruder and his wife, Charity Beall.

He inherited "Brotherhood Enlarged" to which he added 340 acres of "Crawford's Adventure" plus Whittentine and Hudson's Range. When he died, his heirs divided the 855 acres, all in Prince George's County, Maryland.

Fielder was disinterred from the Magruder Family Cemetery in the 1960s and reburied at Fort Lincoln Cemetery. The beautiful family memorials could not be moved for his family members due to cemetery regulations. All now have a plain marker and there is a simple headstone for each group.
The new marker for Fielder was inscribed incorrectly.

“I am bound to them though I cannot look into their eyes or hear their voices. I honor their history. I cherish their lives.
I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
