Notes for Thomas Erwin (Spouse 1)
Thomas E. Owen Jr., resident of Raton, passed away peacefully at the age of 91.
Tom was born in Trinidad before his family moved to Clayton, N.M., where graduated from Clayton High School in 1938. He attended two years of college before joining the army to serve his country during World War II. During his time in the army, he was stationed first in France and later in England.
While he was stationed in England, he met Joyce Weaving, whom he married and brought to the United States. They first settled in Loveland, and later moved to Raton, N.M..
In 1968, Tom married Mary Simons and they lived in Raton for many years, running Mesa Feed and welcoming their son Tim to the world. Later, Tom and Mary opened a malt shop in South Fork, and sold the feed store to move full time to run the malt business. After many years, Tom returned to Raton, where he went to work at Morgan's Building and Spa until the age of 87.
He is joined in Heaven by both his parents, Thomas E. Owen Sr. and Eva Chase, his two sisters, along with his two loving children, David Owen and Robert Owen.
Tom will forever be remembered by his surviving children, Linda and her husband Richard Hsu of California and Timothy and his wife Diane Owen of Raton; eight treasured grandchildren: Michael, Peter, Jonathon, Suzanna, Adam, Marlene, Keena, Patrick; seven great grandchildren; and special friend Tim Trujillo, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
Tom loved listening to classical music, reading books to his great grandchildren, laughing and being with his family. Tom touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
