As a Revolutionary Soldier Simon served four enlistments. During the Revolution, he served as a scout, spy and procurer of beef cattle for the army. He came to Ga. from near Fayetteville, Cumberland Co., N.C. to Burke Co., then Montgomery Co., Ga. about 1798. While in Montgomery Co., Ga. he represented that county in the 1824 General Assembly and in the special session in 1825. It was in this special assembly that the bill was introduced to create Thomas Co., Ga. The governor appointed him along with
Duncan Ray, William J. Forson, Michael Horn and John Hill Bryan to select the site for the Thomas Co., Ga. Courthouse. He was the first representative from Thomas Co. in the Georgia House of Representatives in 1826 and 1827.

While living in Cane Creek, N.C. he was a member of the
Quaker Cane Creek Monthly Meeting and was disowned by them on 5 June 1799 probably because of his military activities.

By 1830 Simon Hadley was the second largest slave owner in Thomas Co., Ga.

Simon and his wife, Jane, are buried in the
Hadley-Brown Cemetery, Grady Co., Ga.

I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
