Martha Ellen Gordon whose maiden name was Brannum, was born in DeKalb county, Mo., November 16th, 1856, and died in the Sister's hospital in St. Joseph, May 24th, 1921. Mrs. Gordon has been in very poor health for many years and she was known to few people in Plattsburg because she had been so confined to her home since the family return[e]d to this community a few years ago.
Mrs. Gordon was twice married. Her first husband was Peter Kincaid, to whom she was married in 1872. Two sons by this first marriage survive her, Chas. Burton Kincaid of Big Cabin, Ok., and Robert E. Kincaid of Lathrop. After Mr. Kincaid's death in the late seventies, Mrs. Gordon was married in 1880 to Jacob Gordon, who survives. [O]f the 9 children born to this union six are living; Frederick of Turney, Mrs. Bertha Dicus of Keystone, Ellis D., Leslie, Mrs. Isador Eaton and Mrs. Opal Collins of Plattsburg.
Three sisters and a brother of the deceased also survive her; they are: Lizzie Anglehart of Indianapolis, Ind., Mary E. Fisher, Kansas City, Kan., Nancy Foley of Grayson, and Wm. Brannum of Plattsburg.
Mrs. Gordon had been a member of the Christian church since childhood. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Carl Burkhardt in the Christian church, May 26th, 1921.
