The following is the last paragraph on the obit of David Hurst Shock in the SHOCK NEWS printed August 1927 by Terry Bradley.

"Major Martin Gibson, father of Mrs. David Shock (Cynthia Gibson) is buried on the old David Shock homestead. He was a veteran of the war of 1812 and at the Battle of the Thames in Canada. He cut a tassel from the coat of Tecumseh, the Indian Chief, after he was slain, with a sword he made himself. He died in 1856 and his wife a few years later."
