Notes for William Presley HOLDER
THERE ARE A LOT OF BAD RESEARCHERS POSTING THAT WILLIAM PRESLEY HOLDER WAS THE SON OF GABRIEL HOLDER, OR JOHN N HOLDER, AND POSSIBLY OTHERS. THIS IS BAD RESEARCH, AND WRONG. JUST ADDING A NAME DOESN'T MAKE IT SO. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE "D" DNA LINE FOR OVER 25 YEARS, ONLY TO SEE PEOPLE ABUSE MY RESEARCH.
The only thing we know for sure from DNA research is William Presley Holder, and John Presley Holder b. 15 May 1813 d. 15 Jun 1873, Somervell Co., TX , Find-A-Grave memorial 150066721, are the ONLY perfect 67 marker matches as of this year 2021.
Most, if not all, of the families living on Long Creek at what is White Pine TN , shown in the 1830 Jefferson Co., TN census, are related to Christopher Moyers.
William Presley Holder married the Widow Charlotte Smith Moyers 29 Aug 1816.
On 22 Aug 1805 She married William B Moyers, Jr. There was two known boys born to this marriage. There could be other children of this marriage.
Jeremiah Myers b. 1809 TN d. 1857 Ray Co., MO
William Myers b.14 Dec 1813 TN d. 15 Jan 1875 Ray Co., MO.
William B Moyers Jr went with Jackson on his New Orleans expedition, and on the way back Jackson attacked the Indians in what is called The Battle of Horseshoe Bend - Coosa Co., AL. In the battle there was 76 soldiers killed, and buried at Ft Williams. Three Moyers related family members were listed as killed in this battle. #1. Panky, Riley Pvt,#34. Pankey, Stephen Pvt, and #74. Moiers, Williams Pvt. The last is a badly spelling William Moyers.
Charlotte was also related to the Moyers through her mother, Susannah Moyers b.22 Mar 1766 who was a sister to Christopher Myers Moyers 01 Jan 1739/40.
The reason I believe William Presley is buried in this family cemetery is the fact he is listed on the Nov 1830 census, within a few hundred feet of this cemetery, and a sale of his goods was held 20 Jan 1831. At this early date there was only family cemeteries, and no community cemeteries in the area. There was a Will of William Presley Holder on a index list in the Jefferson County TN courthouse. I went to the Court house in 2005, and the Will could not be found. Since my visit the Will has been removed from the index. If someone has possession of it please return it, or at least a copy, to the Courthouse.
