In the name of God: Amen
I Susannah Smith of the Co., of Greene and state of Tennessee, being weak of body, but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for his mercies.
Do make this my last will and testament:
That is to say, first of all I will and bequeath my soul to God who gave it, and my body to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial, at my decease. And a touching earthly goods wherewith. God has blessed me, I will that my burial expenses be paid out of the first money from my Estate.
I also will and bequeath to my beloved daughter Luciana Moyers and my beloved son-in-law, John Moyers, all the rights, and title, interest, and demand that I have to a certain track, or parcel of land, lying and being in Washington Co., and the State of Tennessee, joining the lands of Isaac Hartman, John Blakley and others which land was deeded to myself and Solomon Smith, by my beloved husband Nathaniel Smith.
I also will and bequeath to my daughter Luciana and son-in-law, John Moyers, all my right and lawful claim to a pension, which is now in succesful operation for the services of my beloved husband, Nathaniel Smith, in the services of the United States.
I also will and bequeath to my daughter Luciana and son-in-law, John Moyers, all my personal estate, mainly my bed and bedclothes, one pewter dish, and four plates, one spinning wheel, one side saddle, one large oven together with all my personal estate of whatever kind that is.
I will all the above as stated in this, my last will and testimony, to them at my decease. I also will that John Moyers Jr, and Nathaniel S Moyers be and act as executors in this my last will and testimony. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand, and seal, this 23rd day of September in the year of our lord 1844.

WILL of Nathaniel Smith -- Washington Co., TN Nov. 8, 1824
In the name of God, Amen, I Nathaniel Smith of Washington Co., and the State of Tennessee, be in sick and weak in body, but in perfect mind and memory, thanks to God calling into my mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed unto all men, once to die.
Do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is today principally, and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of almighty God, who gave it and my body to be buried at in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, do nothing doubting that I shall receive the same, again at the great resurrection by the power of mighty God, and as touching such world by estate as it has pleased God to bless me with wisdom in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner, and form.
First: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Susannah all my household and kitchen furniture, together with a certain black mare, and all my cattle, hogs, and sheep, together with my poultry and bees.
I also constitute and appoint her, and my son Solomon to be my Executors.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann (Leanna), one dollar, to be paid by my executors, and to my daughter Lewcy (Lucinda, Lucy) I bequeath one dollar, and my daughter Jewly (Julia ), one dollar, and to my son Ezekiel ( Ezekiel ), one dollar, and to my daughter Charlotte (Charlotte Holder) I bequeath one dollar, and to my
daughter Betsy (Elizabeth), one dollar, and my son Solomon (Solomon) one dollar, also to my daughter Jewriah (Geriah), one dollar which payments to be raised and paid by my Executors.
And I do hereby utterly disallow and remove and disannul all other wills, legacies, bequests and Executors by me in any way made willed and bequeathed, published, pronounced this my last will and testament in witness so here of I set my hand and seal, this Eighth day of Nov, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Four

….. In order to obtain the benefits of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July 7th 1838 intended an act granting ½ pay and pension to certain widows. ……..
(Susannah Smith states )That she is widow of Nathaniel Smith who was a soldier in the Virginia Line in the War of Revolution that the aforesaid Nathaniel Smith enlisted in the nation service near the commencement of the War in the County of Culpeper in the state of Virginia and served five years and eight months. Her husband the aforesaid Nathaniel Smith enlisted under Captain Angus Rucker and the rest of the officers. She at this time cannot recollect but her husband often spoke of Captain Bradford and recollected of having her husband the aforesaid Nathaniel Smith say that he obtained a furlough to come home from an officer by the name of Strother. She further ????? That she often heard her husband the aforesaid Nathaniel Smith say he was in the battles of Brandywine and Stony point, and was other battles at this time she could not recollect. She further states that she was married to the said Nathaniel Smith in August Seventeen hundred and eighty four. That her husband the aforesaid Nathaniel Smith November 1824. That she was not married to him prior to his leaving the service, but the marriage took place previous to the first of January seventeen hundred ninety four ??? at the time above stated, and she further declares that her husband the aforesaid Nathaniel Smith sold his discharge to Col Barber of Orange Virginia.
