Transcribed from handwritten pension application (Apr 25, 1856):

Pendleton County Kentucky

I, Margaret (Carr) Adams of said county, aged from my best information about 70 years, do make the following statement:

"I am the widow of William Adams, deceased, late of Fleming County, Kentucky, who in his lifetime applied from said county of Fleming for a Revolutionary Pension. The said William Adams was a ___ soldier of the service of the United States of Revolutionary War. For particulars of his service, I can only refer to the statements which he made when he applied as above named for a pension.

I would only add ____ from my best information, he served under Captains Philip Ross and Ward and under Generals Wayne and Broadhead, with Colonel Campbell and Major John Finley, as is more particularly described by him in his above named application.

I was married to said William Adams on the 19th day of February 1811 in Washington County in the state of Pennsylvania by one John Riddle (a minister of the ____), and my name before said marriage was Margaret Carr.

The said William Adams died in Fleming County Kentucky early in the month of August 1846, leaving ____ his widow since which time, I have never married again but am still his widow.

I make this declaration for the purpose of applying for and receiving the benefit of the Bounty Land Act of Congress approved March 3rd 1855.

I have never heretofore applied for or received the benefit of this or any other Bounty Land Act of Congress; and so far as I have ever heard of, the said William Adams never in his lifetime applied for or received the benefit of any Bounty Land Act.

William and _____ of Washington County __________ and __________ noticed? to this application. I have no ______ evidence to prove _____ said marriage and have no ____________.

Affidavit of Barnabus Traylor, a resident of Pendleton County and Adeline Traylor, also of same county, aged respectively 32 and 26 ____. We, the undersigned above _____ and described to certify _____ _____ Margaret is now a widow and we certify that we are disinterested witnesses. This 25th day of April 1856. (Attest 2 witnesses to their signatures: both signed with their "X".)

Pendleton County Kentucky ___ Be it known that on this ___ day of April 1856, before (illegible name) (crossed out "justice of the peace") in and from said county, personally _____ Mrs Margaret Adams, who is well known to me, and she did in my presence sign and swear to the foregoing declaration of this date ascribed to her. I believe her to be of the age that she calls herself, and I certify that I am disinterested.

At the same time also came Barnabus Traylor and Adeline Traylor, both residents of this county and both well known to me as persons of good reputation for truth and veracity, and they did in my presence sign and swear to the foregoing annexed? joint affidavit of this date ascribed to them. I believe them to be of the respective ages that they call themselves and to be disinterested.

And I further certify that from my above married acquaintance with Mrs. Adams and the foregoing statements and the reputation? of this case. I am fully satisfied of the identity of the above married Mrs. Margaret Adams as she describes herself in her above ____ declaration. Followed by signature.
