Philip was the son of William and Mary Keller Brakebill. He married 1st Docia Perkins abt 1846 in Owen Co, KY. He married 2nd Mary Ann Sims on Sept 29, 1885 in Boone Co, MO.
Phillip and Docie had 14 known children: They were: James William, Francis, Mary Ann, Eashufa, George Miller, Elizabeth, Angeline, Louise, Phillip, John, Andrew, Ira, Doshia and Joseph Syre.

from the Sturgeon Missouri Leader, 14 July 1913:

Phillip Brakebill Dead - Born in Monroe County, Tennessee in 1825. Died Saturday July 12, 1913. Aged 88 years 6 months and 29 days. Phillip Brakebill had been a resident of the Riggs vicinity for a number of years. He had been ill for two weeks suffering with a stroke of paralysis. His first wife died many years ago and at the time of his death he was living with his second wife who survives him.

He was the father of fourteen children, eight of whom survive. They are: James W. Brakebill; Joseph Brakebill; Mrs. Wm. Kanatzar; Mrs. J.M. Sims of the Riggs vicinity; Mrs. Jap Littrell, Columbia; Ira Brakebill, George and Andrew Brakebill, Maitland, MO and 37 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at Union Church Sunday afternoon by Eld. G. Tomlinson and burial in the adjoining cemetery.
