Notes for Margaret Elizabeth RYAN
1. Where did the sibling Margaret I Ryan come from, what document?
Children of John and Manerva Ryan, Margaret is their youngest daughter. One source for this is Manerva's declaration for widow's pension (1890) following John's death; she lists children under 16 yrs of age living with her including George S. b. 1875, Robert Francis b. 1877, Dora B b. 1879, Margaret I b. 1881. Another source is the Iowa Marriages 1809-1992 from FamilySearch.org which lists Margaret I Ryan (mother Manerva C. Ryan) married Francis M. Robinson in Lee County, IA in 1896. When I started out, all I had was "family history" indicating that my great-grandfather Charley Ryan had a brother George from Moline/East Moline IL (for sure) and possibly sisters named Margaret and Dora. Further confirmatiion eventually came in finding Dora Belle (Ryan) Anderson living next door to her sister Margaret Ryan Robinson in the 1900 Fort Madison, IA census. Margaret's mother Minerva [sic] was living with her. I've done quite a bit of research on the children of John and Manerva, trying to find verification that this is the "right" line. Movements of the parents and then John and his siblings, and John's son Charley and his siblings, coincide at key points. Finding out more about those related families has helped me to find them the census and other sources in places I had not thought to look, but in some interesting ways this has confirmed family history.79

“I am bound to them though I cannot look into their eyes or hear their voices. I honor their history. I cherish their lives.
I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
