In Coast Artillery Command for all 32 years service. Served at Fort Strong, Massachusetts; spotted artillery bombardments in France in World War *; served on the Mexican border; served at Fort Hancock, New Jersey; For Totten, New York; Fort Sherman, Canal Zone; and in 1930 was transferred to Fort Crockett in Galveston, Texas. From here he retired in April 1944 as Master Sargent.
