Notes for Wanda Norean NORTON
Wanda was born 19 April 1910 at Garber Oklahoma to Lloyd and Winona Mullen Norton. She was the second of seven children and the only daughter. She was raised in Oklahoma and Iowa; and in 1932 her family moved from Oklahoma to Barton county. On April 26, 1934, at Lamar, she was married to Loyd Lawrence.
Together, they farmed in the Iantha community until 1981 when they moved to their present home in Lamar. Her yard and garden reflected her love of the land, producing an abundance of flowers and vegetables. Under her care any plant grew profusely. In any spare moment, Wanda's hands were always busy. She loved to crochet and knit and sew. When asked what her hobbies were, she laughingly would reply. "I mow and hoe and sew." In her later years, after her retirement and move to Lamar, she pieced and quilted many beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her son Warren of rural Lamar. Grandchildren, Brenda Davis of Chillicothe Ohio, and Eric Lawrence of rural Lamar. Great grandchildren, Zac and Breanne Davis and Austin Lawrence.

LAMAR, Mo. - Loyd A. Lawrence, 87, 100 E. 13th St., Lamar, died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 1997, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, after a short illness. Mr. Lawrence was born Jan. 28, 1910, in the Haines Grove community in Barton County. He was a lifelong resident of Barton County. He was a farmer. He married Wanda Norton on April 26, 1934, at Lamar. She died in October 1992.
Survivors include a son, Warren Lawrence, Lamar; a brother, Linard Lawrence, Lamar; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, with the Rev. Clif Crockett officiating. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery, Lamar. Pallbearers will be John Lawrence, Larry Wimer, Harel Lawrence, Bryan Crockett, Danny Little and Kevin Little.
