Notes for Lawrence Benjamin HANSEN
!information received from Betty Lawrence on 28 Oct 1997.
Lawrence Benjamin Hansen inherited his father's butcher shop in Ukiah, CA and a slaughter house also located there. By all accounts Lawrence liked to "rodeo" and there is a picture of him at the Covelo Rodeo in Betty Swindell Lawrence's files as well as in Kathryn Swindell Anderson's files.

!Lawrence's daughter, Marian (Betty and Kathryn's mother) used to tell of childhood memories of going to the rodeo with Lawrence and Kate and of camping out.
Notes for Katherine Priscilla (Spouse 1)
!information received from Betty Lawrence on 28 Oct 1997
Katherine Hurt was born in Covelo where she met and married Lawrence Hansen. They lived in Round Valley for a time and then moved to Ukiah where Lawrence was a butcher.

!Kate's birthdate is shown in her mother's family bible as 28 Sept. 1886. Her grave marker reads 1887. Since Martin, her brother was born in May 1888, she could not have been born September 28,1887.

!Katherine died in 1941 when her granddaughter Betty was only 7 years old so Betty's memories of her are very limited. She remembers the house where they lived on Church Street in Ukiah had a fireplace with an old fashioned clock on the mantelpiece. (the clock is now in the possession of Kathryn Swindell Anderson, a granddaughter born after Kate Hansen's death). Betty also remembers that there was a huge (or at least it seemed huge to Betty who was quite small at the time) tree in the front yard of the home and a small white fence around the yard.

I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
