Clairborne Tuck and Frances Moore had seven sons, all of whom were soldiers in the Army of the Confederacy. Only two of them returned to their homes, the remaining five having died in battle or by disease.

Notes for JAMES WILLIAM TUCK:
James William Tuck was born 29 Aug 1829 in Wilkes County, Georgia. He married about 1850 MARY F. UPSHAW. Shortly afterward his entire family - parents, brothers & sisters - moved with him to Walton County Georgia where many of their descendants live today.

On 4 mar 1862 he joined the Confederate Army, Company G, "Walton Blues," 42nd Reg., Georgia. Vol. Infantry, Army of Tennessee. He was captured in 1863, but was exchanged shortly afterward and rejoined his company.

He died in 1864 while in service near Dalton, Georgia. -- one of five brothers who gave their lives to the Southern cause -- and was buried in Cassville, Georgia
