Loretta "Kay" McCready, 77, of Parsons, passed away the morning of Sunday, July 17, 2022, at her home.
She was born on April 18, 1945, to Woodrow Leroy and Lillian Marie (Forshey) Root in Parsons. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Parsons.
For over 35 years, Kay was a Certified Nurse Aide in each of the nursing homes in Parsons and Altamont. When she retired, she was working at Elm Haven East.
She was a member of the Big Hill Bass Masters. Family was the center of Kay's life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For many years, Kay helped her husband with the family watermelon and cantaloupe business. She also enjoyed crocheting.
On March 17, 1967, Kay and George McCready were united in marriage. For 55 years, Kay was his wife, buddy and partner. He survives of the home.

One brother – Chuck Root (Inez) of Parsons, Kansas
Two sisters – Lula "Corky" Hosfelt (Emmett) of Galesburg, Kansas
Leona "Onie" Hamilton (Leroy) of Altamont, Kansas
One sister-in-law – Eva Tucker (Bill) of Humboldt, Kansas
One brother-in-law – J.C. Mapel of Olathe, Kansas
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
She was preceded in death by one infant son, George McCready, Jr.; one granddaughter, Brandi Gamblian; two great-grandsons, Brian and Damien McCready; and one sister, Aurelia Mapel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Following cremation, burial will take place at Springhill Cemetery.
