The family name Therwhanger is a variant of the German surname Thurwanger and is considered by scholars to be of habitation origin. European references to the family name include a record of MagdaIena
Thurwanger, who married Adam Paul in a Catholic Church in BundenthaI. Pfalz, Bavaria, Germany on February 12th, 1810. Sibilla Thurwanger was christened in the same church on February llth, 1845. She was the daughter of Philip
Thurwanger and Magdalena Kunz Thurwanger. Bearers of the surname to the United States include Camelle Thurwanger who was born in France in 1856 and was a former resident of Paris. She arrived on the ship La Bretagne from the part of
Le Havre, Sein-Inferior, France, on the 25th of September, 1904. She was forty-eight years of age and she was a married woman.
