Abraham Childers was baptized on 30 November 1613 at Leeds Minster (Church of Saint Peter) in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, a son of Richard Childers of Hunslet.
He emigrated to Virginia in 1649.
His nephews, Philemon Childers and Thomas Childers (both sons of Robert Childers of Hunslet), also emigrated to Virginia.

Abraham Childers was the father of Sarah Childers (m. Nicholas Perkins) and Abraham Childers (b. 1655).
NOTE: Philemon Childers, baptized on 26 November 1637 at Leeds Minster (Church of Saint Peter) in Leeds, Yorkshire, England was a son of Robert Childers (b. 1611) of Hunslet and Leeds and a grandson of Richard Childers. Philemon Childers settled in Henrico County, Virginia where his uncle Abraham Childers had established himself earlier. Philemon Childers died about 1704.
