James "Jim" C. Cook, Sr, 91, of Dalton, GA, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013.
He was born November 15, 1921 in Decatur, GA to the late David Otis and Augusta Mae Pounds Cook; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hurt Cook; brothers, Pounds, Carey, Russell and David; sister, Bette Redd; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Jane Hurt; and sister-in-law, Bunny Hurt.
He was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church.
Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James "Jim" C. Jr. and Cheryl Cook; grandson, David Carey Cook and April; sister and brother-in-law, Augusta and Bob Markley of Staunton, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Betty Lou Hurt of Pittsburgh, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home from 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28 followed by a graveside service at West Hill Cemetery at noon.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Dalton First United Methodist Church, 500 S. Thornton Ave, Dalton, Ga. 30720.
Love Funeral Home, 1402 N. Thornton Ave, Dalton (across from Hamilton Medical Cemetery) is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Martha Hurt Cook, 87, of Dalton, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010.
She was born June 25, 1922, daughter of the late Robert and Frances Springfield Hurt.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Hurt.
Martha was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James C. Cook, Sr. of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, James C. Cook, Jr and Cheryl Cook of Dalton; grandson, David Corey Cook of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Hurt, Jr. and Betty Lou of Pittsburgh, PA.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Monday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.
Burial will follow in West HIll Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Monday from 1 until 2.
