Shelia Kay Ryan Killed in Crash
A one-car accident early Saturday morning claimed the life of 14-year-old Shelia Kay Ryan, a Nevada high School student. David Marc Cliffman, 17, driver of the auto, a 1965 Chevrolet, was seriously injured.

According to investigating Highway Patrolman Mickey Mason, the wreck occurred three and one half miles south of Nevada on BB highway between the hours of midnight and five a.m.

According to patrolman Mason, the auto was northbound and traveling in the vicinity of 10O miles per hour when the driver lost control. The car traveled 50O feet, hit a crossroad, went airborne and flew 100 feet before touching down, traveling another 100 feet before touching down, traveling another 100 feet and rolling over one and one half times.

The wreckage was not found until 5:45 a.m. Saturday as it was in a deep ditch and the top of the car was crushed down to the body. Patrolman Mason said the car was cold so the accident had to happen quite sometime before it was discovered.

Both youths were pinned beneath the wreckage, which was in the ditch sitting in an upright position. The Cliffman youth suffered a broken collar bone, and a shattered pelvis in addition to numerous lacerations. He was In an apparent state of shock when the authorities arrived. He was taken to Nevada City Hospital. He is the son of Mr.and Mrs. Bob Cliffman, 1230 N. Thucker, and is a senior at Nevada High School.

Shelia Kay Ryan was born September 19, 1957. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferrelle Ray Ryan of Nevada whose present address is 1003 N. Main. Her mother was the former Donna Kay Doelling of Nevada. Sheila was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada and would have been a sophomore in high school.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Steven and Douglas Ryan of the home, her grandparents. Mrs. Fred Ryan, and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Doelling, all of Nevada, great grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Butler of Horton, and numerous aunts, uncles. and cousins. The funeral will be held at Ferry Chapel, Monday at 1:14 p.m.
