Doris Audrey Ryan, 82, of Altamont, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the St. Luke Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri.

She was born January 7 1934 at Yankton, South Dakota to George Irwin Pettit and Josephine (Merkwan) Pettit.

As a young girl, she moved with her family to Nevada, Missouri where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from the Nevada High School.

She was united in marriage to Frederick Eugene Ryan on July 12, 1968 at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her his death on March 22, 2012.

Following their marriage, they lived in Altamont where she remained throughout the rest of her life. While living in Southeast Kansas, she had worked at the former Broderick Garment Factory in Parsons as well as the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altamont. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting and cross-stitch.

Survivors include: One Step-son, Terry Ryan and his wife, Gabi - of Grove, Oklahoma; One Step-daughter, Kathy Berry and her husband, Kyle of Lamar, Missouri; Six Grandchildren; Several Great-grandchildren and One Brother, Arnold Pettit of Diamond, Missouri.

In addition to her husband, Gene, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 5, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Altamont with Rev. Greg Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Altamont after 2:00 pm, Sunday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Altamont and these may be left at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.

Notes for Frederick Eugene “Gene” (Spouse 1)
Gene, age 86, died at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons. He was the son of Fred and Opal (Lovell) Ryan. He graduated from Nevada (MO) High School in 1942 and served in the US Navy during World War II. He married Donna Thomas but later divorced. He married Doris Pettit on July 12, 1968, in Miami, Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, his children, Terry Ryan and Kathy Berry, 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Ray Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont.
