Twila J. Weichert, age 82, of rural Pine Island, MN, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Zumbrota Care Center in Zumbrota, MN where she had resided for the past month.

Twila Jean Lang was born April 11, 1933 in Hays, KS to Michael M. and Ruth (Hurt) Lang. She was raised in Rural Ellis, KS and attended country school before attending St. Mary's Parochial Grade School in Ellis. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1951. On June 9, 1956 she married Jack A. Weichert at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. The couple lived in Endicott, NY before moving to Rochester, MN in 1964. Her husband was employed at IBM. Twila was a homemaker, raising four children. The couple moved to rural Pine Island in 1977. Twila enjoyed bowling, ceramics, gardening, bird watching, and pistol shooting with her husband. In earlier years she was active in Girl Scouts, Cub, and Boy Scouts. She was a member of the Rochester Senior Center where she was a member of the Red Hat Ladies.

Survivors include her husband, three sons, Calvin Leslie of Amherst, NH; Stanley Allen (Lisa) of Middletown, MD; and Eric Shelby (Stacy) of Waseca, MN; her daughter, Bonny Jean Carlsen of Byron, MN; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Her parents, and her brother Ronald Lang preceded her in death.
Memorials are suggested to the Mayo Foundation for Cancer Research.

Visitation for the public will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Rochester Chapel. A private family graveside service will be at Pine Island Cemetery.
