Jean K. Bodine (1921 - 2012)
Clara Jean Killam Bodine, 91, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aledo, with the Rev. Jim Witherow officiating. Interment: Valley Memorial Garden in Mission. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Bobby Yancy, Justin Yancy, Lt. Col. Bo Birdwell, Warrie Birdwell, Michael McMahon, Carl Roland and Monty Youngblood.
Memorials: Mrs. Bodine's family respectfully suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, Aledo, or a charity of choice.
Jean K. Bodine was born in 1921 near Eola in Tom Green County to Jesse Jewel and Sarah Viola Killam. In 1939 she graduated from Eola High School as valedictorian and went on to study home economics at Texas Tech University. She married the love of her life, Harmon M. Bodine, on July 5, 1941. Jean lived in Mission for 52 years and then moved to Aledo for the last 13 years. She was a 56-year member of the P.E.O. sisterhood and served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon M. Bodine.
Survivors: Her daughters, Judy B. Suter of Mission, Joani B. Youngblood and husband, Jim, of Fort Worth and Jill B. Birdwell and husband, Michael, of Aledo; grandchildren, Diana McMahon and husband, Michael, Bobby Yancy and wife, Madeline, Justin Yancy and wife, Christa, Lezlie Morton and husband, Vincent Fondren, Megan Roland and husband, Carl, Lt. Col. Bo Birdwell and wife, Michelle, Jeanie Birdwell and Warrie Birdwell and wife, Beth; and 18 great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
