Aged Lady Succumbs from Heart Trouble at Home of Daughter, Mrs. P. A. Lewis, Near Red Oak.
Mrs. Permelia J. Hartley, 87, died Saturday, July 3, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. A. Lewis, southwest of Red Oak, death being caused by a heart ailment from which she had suffered for some time.
Funeral services were held in Lineville, IA., her former home, on Monday, July 5, with burial in the Lineville cemetery. The Perryman Chapel was in charge of the service. The body was taken overland Sunday morning.
Mrs. Hartley was born July 29, 1856, in Mercer County, MO., a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. W. M. Johnson. She was married to William Hartley who preceded her in death in 1923, when they were living near Malvern. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. P. A. Lewis, with whom she made her home; Mrs. Jerry Lemons, Nevada, IA.; Mrs. O. T. Henderson, Shelbina, MO., and one son, Elven Hartley of Lineville. One son and one daughter died in infancy. Mrs. Hartley had resided near Malvern for many years before coming to live with her daughter, Mrs. P. A. Lewis, in 1941.
