Connie Maurita Holland, age 87, passed away, Monday, May 19, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Church of Christ in Turkey. Interment will follow at the Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Quitaque. Connie was born on June 3, 1926, to Homer Grady and Timothy (Dykes) Higgins in Brownfield, Texas. Connie met Mr. Holland through the mail while he was in the military and they were married almost 50 years. She was a loving mother, friend, and supporter of Turkey, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Turkey. She made fabulous quilts and loved to fish. Connie is survived two sons, Lloyd Holland of Slaton and Tim Holland of Mirridian; a sister, Juanita McAmeer of Amarillo; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Holland; and a son, Danny Holland.
