William Sweany is the son of Nathan and Nancy Sweany. On 13 Nov 1839, William married Elizabeth H. Stephens in Jackson County, Indiana. Elizabeth is the daughter of William and Nancy B. Boyce Stephens. William and Elizabeth had five children: Joshua Morris Sweany, Nancy Ann Sweany, Solomon B Sweany, Lydia Sweany and Emily Sweany. After Elizabeth's death in 1852, William married Alice Elsie Cox, the daughter of Andrew and Clariss Crossers Cox, on 30 Jan 1859. William and Alice had five children: Andrew C Sweany, Nathan W Sweany, Eliza Louella Sweany, Franklin J Sweany and Clara L Sweany.
