About Giorgio my mother (Aurelia Trabucco) told me that he had been chosen in 1945 in Agliè, during the retreat of the Germans, to be shot in retaliation because 10 Italians civilians were shot for every German killed by the Italians partisans; fortunately, at the last moment, the Germans were convinced not to shoot them by a lady from Agliè who knew the German language well.
