Mrs. Mary Coffey Was Daughter of Early Day Hotel Man.
Mrs. Mary Coffey, a resident of Sioux City since 1882, died at her home, 2310 West Fifth street, Sunday after a brief illness.
Born in Illinois, October 12, 1856. Mrs. Coffey journeyed overland by wagon with her parents to Sioux City when she was about 6 years old. Her father, John Belongea, was one of the early day hotel proprietors here. She married John Coffey, who engaged in carpenter work here until his death about 25 years ago.
Mrs. Coffey is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Pecaut and Mrs. L. Gilman, of Sioux City; three sons John, Fred and George Coffey, of Sioux City; four sisters, Mrs. C. N. Hoover, Mrs. B. Henry and Mrs. Caroline Williams, of Sioux City, and one brother, Fred Belongea, of Los Angeles, Cal.
The body is at Perasso Bros. undertaking establishment pending funeral arrangements.
