Ruben Albert Cothern

Ruben Albert Cotherrt, was born in Brisco County Texas on June 2Ist., 1901, married to Inza Stephens on December 23, 1922 at Portales New Mexico, by Rev. J. F. Nix.

Died August 18, 1929 at Portales, New Mexico.

Ruben had been sick for some time and spent several weeks at Hot Springs, New Mexico, in hopes that it would Improve his health. He was aflicted with the enlargement of the liver, and attending physicians could. give no hope for his recovery.

For the past few weeks, it was thought by the family; that he was improving, and his father and mother made, a short trig to Colorado to visit relatives, returning home Saturday.

Sunday morning he sweated profousely and when: his mother Mrs. Tom Cothern, phoned the physician for instructions, was told to dry him off and rub with alcohol.

While, his mother was phoning his wife called to her that he had gone to sleep. She immediately went to his bed and attempted to arouse him, but he continued to sink until death claimed him.

Deceased leaves a wile and two children, a son, Albert, 4 years of age, and a daughter, Maxine, 2 years of age. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Cothern of Portales three brothers, Deskin, John and Alfred and one sister, Mrs. Victor Olds., all of whom were present.

Ruben lived a consistent Christian life since 1817, when he was baptised by A. J. Layland. into the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints.

The funeral services were held at the home of his parents in south Portales, the remains being laid to rest in the Portales cemetery.
