Margarett Ruth Davis Harwell died in Childress Sunday, January 21, 2001 at the age of 72.
The daughter of Augustus and Nannie Langley Davis, she married Earl E. Harwell in Wellington, April 1, 1945. He died in 1981. She was secretary for State Farm Insurance Company, Childress and served as treasurer for the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Childress.
Two brothers, Bill and Tom Davis, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Ferguson of Childress; a son, Tommy Harwell of Gordonville; four sisters, a brother, three grandsons, a granddaughter and her husband; and three great-grandchildren.

Earl Harwell, Childress Leader, Dies
Earl E. Harwell, 54, a business, civic and church leader who had lived in Childress for 32 years, died Thursday, August 6 after an illness of two years.
The first part of his life was spent in Collingsworth County.
Mr. Harwell had been an agent for State Farm Insurance Company in Childress for 27 years. The trips he won as a representative for that company took him and his wife to many parts of the world.
He was owner of a Childress apartment complex and of a real estate business. For many years he was a tax accountant and had a bookkeeping service.
Active in civic affairs and a worker for the development of his town, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Masonic Lodge.
He was a deacon in First Baptist Church, Childress.
Born in the Aberdeen community January 29, 1927, Mr. Harwell was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harwell.
He graduated from Dodson High School and served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II.
He was married to Margarett Davis on April 1, 1945.
Funeral services were conducted at First Baptist Church, Childress on Saturday, with the Rev. Joe Allen, former pastor of the church, and Dr. J. Cohen, pastor, officiating. Pall bearers were deacons and burial was in the Childress Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife; two children, Mrs. Jan Ferguson and Tommy Harwell, both of Childress; four grandchildren, four brothers, Ernest Harwell of Wellington, Tom Harwell of Wichita Falls, Bill Harwell of Norman, Oklahoma and Jack Harwell of Denton; and one sister, Mrs. Marie Jones of Wellington.
