James Hadley, gentleman of Dublin and Somerset, England, accepted a commission in ills Majesty's army and took up land in Ireland, where he married Lady Jane Roswell of Perth, Scotland. Their son, Simon, was born in 1640.
Simon Hadley
Simon Hadley was a prosperous Dublin gentleman. He owned an iron works in Ballinakill, Kings County, fisheries at Ballyscaddy, Dublin County, and other properties.
He married Katherine Talbot and they were the first quaker Hadleys, having joined Moate Meeting in the County of Westmeath, near Dublin, in 1706, after their children were adult. Katherine (Talbot) Hadley died the 20th day of the fourth month 1710, and was buried at the Moate Grange on the 24th.
Also in 1710 Simon Hadley was disowned by the meeting for marrying out of unity to his second wife, Elizabeth Miller, when he was 70 years old. He died in 1711.
