Son of William Meeks Johnson and Susan McKeehan.
He married Almeda Hart,daughter of John Preston Hart and Elizabeth Terrell, October 26, 1880 in Whitley County, Kentucky at "Press" Hart by Wm. H. Brummett, M, Almeda was born January 18, 1863 in Whitley County Kentucky and died March 21, 1936 in Whitley County, Ky. They were the parents of Sarah E, John, Margaret, Henry, Crit, William Crit, Nannie and Ambrose (Jr) Johnson.
Doc was the President of the Whitley County National Bank in Corbin, Kentucky; presently known as the Corbin Deposit Bank.
Owned a store and post office at Redbird, Ky. He had a post office at Deering, Ky., His daughter Sarah married Green Morgan and took over the Deering Post Office and began selling goods at a country store on the Deering Road.

The town of Deering received it's name:
A certain man took his son deer hunting one day. In the afternoon on the way home, they stopped at the Doc A.B. Johnson Store(Bee Creek Road). Doc: What have you fellows being doing today? Lad: My Dad and I have been deering all day! This so amused Doc that sometime later when he was getting the post office, he suggested the name Deering. So Deering was the name given.
Attorney Emby Mc Keehan owns the farm where the cemetery is located, was the farm of Ambrose Brooks Johnson. Emby McKeehan is a relative of Ambrose B. Johnson.
