Mrs James F Hurt, age 54, ill at her home here for several months, died last Friday. Her death had been expected for several days.
The funeral and burial service occurred Saturday afternoon, the funeral services being held in the Presbyterian church, conducted by her pastor, Dr W W Arrowood. Interment took place in the old cemetery.
The deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs John S Bottimore, of Tazewell, and Mrs R W Newton, of Kansas, and by two children, Jas F Hurt, Jr, and Lois Hurt, who make their home here.
Mrs Hurt was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Wm A Belew, and was born in Mississippi. Her mother died of yellow fever in Memphis,Tenn, in 1878, and her father died in Tazewell in 1906. She moved to Tazewell, with her father and three sisters, in 1894.
She left an estate valued at approximately $25,000.
