Notes for Linda Merian “Linnie” BRAKEBILL
Linda Merian Brakebill Nixon, age 81 of Madisonville, passed Saturday, July 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Born to the late William Paul Brakebill, Sr. and Lucretia Harvey Brakebill, Linda grew up on the family farm with her brother, Paul, in Madisonville where they enjoyed many years of wonderful memories. As a teen growing up in the Lutheran Church, Linda played the piano for the children's ministry. Throughout her life she was very active in the church, serving in Women's ministries, playing the piano, and teaching Sunday school for all ages. Linda was a member of the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

While attending college at Middle Tennessee State University, Linda studied interior design. She had a knack for decorating and an eye for antiques. Linda loved to share stories of her past and talk about special mementos that she held dear. She met her future husband, Wendell while at MTSU. The minute they met she knew he would become the "love of her life". Linda and Wendell built a wonderful life, one that would span 62 years. Together they owned and operated Nixon Construction Company for many years.

Linda was affectionately known as "Linnie" by her nieces and nephews, and "Daisy" by her grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. Seeing her children and grandchildren grow up and become adults and parents was especially rewarding to her. In her spare time Linda enjoyed traveling with the "Cruisers" travel group and painting. But what made her the happiest was spending time with her family.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Wendell Nixon. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Merian and Rick Brewster; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Nancy Nixon; grandchildren, Charley and Ellary Brewster, Molly and Alex Crush, Campble Nixon, and Conner and Austin Robertson; great-grandchildren, Jovie Lynn Brewster, Jaylie Laine Brewster, Jackson Lee Crush, Linnie Jane Crush, and Jaycie Nixon; brother, Dr. Paul Brakebill and wife, Jane Brakebill; nieces and nephews, Bill and Ruth Brakebill, Melanie Brakebill Pioth, Merritt and Beth Brakebill, and Marshall and Megan Brakebill; a host of other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Services to honor and remember Linda will be held 3 PM Saturday, July 19th at the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Hester officiating. Contributions in memory of Linda may be made to the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 373, Loudon, Tennessee 37774. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the church.

“I am bound to them though I cannot look into their eyes or hear their voices. I honor their history. I cherish their lives.
I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
