Charles Jerry Olson, age 69, of Sheffield, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Don Diekman will officiate.
Mr. Olson was a native of Owatonna, Minn., but lived most of his life in the Shoals. He was the baker at Culpepper's Bakery for more than 30 years. He served as minister of Jehovah for more than 53 years in several congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses. His greatest joy was helping his spiritual brothers and sisters, and teaching others he met of the wonderful promise of a beautiful paradise earth where the righteous will live forever, according to Psalm 37:10, 11, 29. We will miss him, but we know we will see him again soon when he is resurrected back to this earth restored to a beautiful paradise without any wickedness, where all those in God's memory will stand back to life again.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Norman Ansel Olson and Adelyn Nannie Luther Olson, and brothers, Bob and Everett Olson.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Brenda Glasscock Olson; son, Jeff Olson and wife, Ashley, of Muscle Shoals; brother, Jim Olson, Thomasville, N.C.; sisters, Carol Tilford, of Rochester, Minn., and Donna Olson, of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, Braeden and Madelynn Olson, of Muscle Shoals; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David McNair, Denny Hiett, Joey Thieron, Jim Bates, Sam Hughes and Delta Godwin.
Memorials may be made to the Florence congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Building Fund, 2414 Old Cloverdale Road, Florence, AL 35630.
