Norman Wayne Rankin, 84 of Arkansas City died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit in Arkansas City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. at the funeral home.
Norman was born March 14, 1931 to Ralph L. Rankin and Bessie Mable (Boone) Rankin in Geuda Springs, KS. He attended Geuda Springs Schools. On September 20, 1948 he married Jane Carol Rogers in Newkirk, OK and they made their home in Geuda Springs. Norman was an oil field pumper for 20 years and he worked for General Electric for 20 years retiring in 1993.
He is survived by his daughter, Nonie Johnson and husband, Jim of Wichita; grandchildren, Jason Sprowls of Lakewood, CA, Ashley Galyean and husband, Beau of Ft. Worth, TX; great grandchildren, Daxton Wayne and River James Galyean of Ft. Worth, TX.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane Rankin; son, Danny Rankin; brother, Milton Lee Rankin and sisters, Faye Rankin, Bonnie, Fern, Betty and Frankie.
A memorial has been established with the Geuda Springs Community Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Jane Carol Rankin, 82 of Arkansas City died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the South Central Kansas Medical Center in Arkansas City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Pastor Steve Butler will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
Jane was born June 16, 1930 to Leo Rogers and Maureen (Ward) Rogers in Winfield. She attended Winfield schools, graduating from the high school in 1948. Jane married Norman W. Rankin on September 20, 1948 in Newkirk, OK. The couple made their home and raised 2 children in Geuda Springs, KS. They lived in Tonkawa and Braman, OK for a brief period. In 1976, the couple moved to Arkansas City where they have lived since. Jane worked at the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital for 23 years in the physical therapy departmen. She retired from the hospital in 1993.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Rankin of the home; daughter, Nonie Johnson and husband, Jim of Wichita; grandchildren, Jason Sprowls of Lakewood, CA and Ashley Galyean and husband, Beau of Amarillo, TX; great grandson, Daxton Wayne Galyean of Amarillo and nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Joan Shute and son, Danny Rankin.
A memorial has been established with the South Central Kansas Medical Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
