Mina L. Johnson
September 3, 1930 – May 5, 2011

Mina L. Johnson, 80 of Monroe died at 5 p.m. Thursday at Fountain View of Monroe. She had been in poor health for six months.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born September 3, 1930 in Patty, Tennessee she was the daughter of John D. and Vestia (Blackwell) Forrester. She married Gilbert P. Johnson on March 18, 1950 in Angola, Indiana. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1990.

Mina was employed by the Beach Nursing Home for several years and the Howard Ternes Packaging Company in Monroe retiring in 1989.

Surviving are her sons David P. (Ronda) Johnson of Monroe Donald E. (Colleen) Johnson of Lincoln Park, Michigan John W. (Nancy) Johnson of Manchester, Michigan; brother John (Gail) Forrester Jr. of Lenoir City, Tennessee; sisters, Lois (Leo) Howard Zalewski of Flat Rock; Mary Ellen Miller of Burlington, Indiana and Diane Tipton of Lenoir City, Tennessee; grandchildren Rachel Chahine, Christina Johnson, Donald Johnson, Jessica Arend, Kristin (Arend) Leslie, Zachary Johnson, Sean Johnson and Matthew Johnson and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Carol Reinhout, brother, Marvin E. Forrester and stepmother Haline Forrester.
