1952 ~ 2006 Harry Clark Johnson, born May 30, 1952 at Wheeler Hospital, Wheeler County, Wheeler, Tex. died Aug. 3, 2006 due to cancer. He began school in Caliente, Nev. and graduated in 1970 from Wells, Nev. After graduation he attended the Link School of Business in Boise, Idaho where he met his future wife Becky L. Sedlacek. He joined the US Navy June 17, 1971 and was honorably discharged on Sept. 12, 1975. Harry attended boot camp in San Diego where he was also stationed. His first ship was the USS Okinawa, LPH3 and was transferred to his second ship the USS Tripoli, LPH10. He was an Operation Specialist 3rd Class. During his term of duty, Harry was stationed on the Pacific Ocean, Subic Bay, Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore and Hawaii. He received the National defense Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal and the Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation during his service. Harry wrote to Becky for four years while traveling around the world. They married June 28, 1975 in Meridian, Idaho and went back to San Diego. On Oct. 19, 1975 they moved to Chama, New Mexico where Harry began work with the Soil Conservation. From March 1976 to July 1984, they moved to Aztec, New Mexica, where Harry worked at various jobs as water truck driver, Circle-K clerk, department store clerk, policeman and Tatt Security Supervisor. They moved back to Idaho then finally to Delta, Utah in November 1984 where Harry delivered the Daily Harold and then finally ending up at IPP as a Mechanic 1 working for IPSC. Harry filled his life with many things from recreation to volunteer work. He loved horse shoes, golf and bowling. In his past time, he was very active in youth sports coaching Babe Ruth Baseball, girls slow pitch softball, Little League football and participated in men’s slow and fast pitch softball. His involvement in volunteer work included the Jaycees, March of Dimes and The Relay for Life Cancer Walkathon. One of Harry’s favorite projects was his annual Halloween Maze set up in their back yard. Harry is survived by his wife Beckey L. Johnson, sister Ann Fry, nephew Kenny (Nanny) Rippetoe Bullhead City, Ariz., niece Renee (Ben) Hall Saratoga Springs, Utah and great niece Samantha. Harry was preceded in death by his parents D. J. Johnson and Evelyn Johnson, grandmother Pearl Johnson, uncles and cousins. There will be a full military service in Harry’s honor at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, Idaho on Oct. 31, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. where he will be laid to rest.
