Thurston, Henry "Ray" Thurston - Pueblo Chieftain - September 29, 2005 - Henry "Ray" Thurston, 82, passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lilly Thurston; son, Michael Ray Thurston; brothers, little Bill, Frank and Clarence Thurston; sisters, Maria Chanick, Wilma Kaparos; brothers-in-law, Anthony Kaparos and Tom Chanick. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Pauline. He also is survived by brothers, George (Violet) and Charles (Marilyn) Thurston; sisters-in-law, Lillian and Velma Thurston; children, Linda (Doug) Dickerson, Patricia (Mark) Higdon, Jeanne (Bob) Dickens, Paula (Lewis) Voorhes, Steve (Kathy) Thurston; grandchildren, Mark Jr. and Gary Higdon, Michael (Stacy) and Misty Dickerson, Christi (Todd) Crothers, Paula Sue Dickens, Candice Aguilar and Eric Voorhes; great-grandchildren, Mark Higdon III, Ryan and Christopher Dickerson, Cheyenne, Victoria and Bobby Crothers, and Ariana Aguilar. Henry also is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention. He was a veteran of World War II, worked for the CS Railroad, the DRGW Railroad and retired from the CFI after 33 years as a millwright. He was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3641. He loved to travel, fish and hunt. He was a man who could build and fix anything. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Viewing, 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, and funeral service, 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, both at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. Taken from online obituary source

Pauline Thurston, age 90, peacefully passed away August 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Nettie Burch; husband, Henry Thurston; infant son, Michael; daughter, Linda Dickerson; brothers, Frances and Billie Burch; and son-in-law, Lewis Voorhes. Pauline is survived by her children, Patricia (Mark) Higdon, Jeanne (Robert) Dickens, Paula Voorhes, Steve (Kathy) Thurston; son-in law, Douglas Dickerson and brother, Robert (Marian) Burch. Pauline also has 8 grandchildren; Mark Jr. (Kathy) Higdon, Michael (Stacy) Dickerson, Gary Higdon, Misty Dickerson, Christy (Todd) Crothers, Paula Sue (Justin) Plokhooy, Eric Voorhes, Candice Aguilar. Pauline also has numerous great grandchildren, and was about to become a great-great grandmother. Pauline was a stay at home mom who dedicated her life to serving God and taking care of her husband, her children and grandchildren. There wasn’t anything that Pauline couldn’t or wouldn’t do for her family. She will be surely missed. Viewing will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2018, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home.
