Notes for Nancy Jane BOGGS
Nancy Jane "Jenny" Boggs was the daughter of John and Nancy Annah Lemasters Boggs; and granddaughter of Charles Francis and Mary Rebecca Clendenin Boggs of Greenbrier County VA, and Benjamin and Rebecca Ann Martin Lemasters (aka Lamastres) of Nicholas County VA. She was named for her Aunt Jennie Lemasters Boggs, who was her mother's sister and the wife of her father's brother, Charles Clendenin Boggs. Aunt Jennie and Uncle Charles were buried at Boggs Cemetery, Linden, Roane County WV.
She was born in that part of Kanawha County VA which later became Nicholas County WV. She married Jacob Stump on 10 JAN 1817, in Harrison County VA. They lived in that part of Virginia which later became Gilmer County WV. She was widowed at age 57, but she never remarried.

Notes for Jacob (Spouse 1)
Jacob Stump was born and died in parts of Virginia which later became West Virginia. He secured a license to marry Jany Boggs on 10 JAN 1817, in Harrison County VA, with the written permission of her father John Boggs, dated 6 JAN 1817. Absalom Stump witnessed. The ceremony took place according to the minister's return on 30 JAN 1817, in Harrison County VA.
Their children were: Lemuel (b:17 APR 1820), who married Malinda Huffman, daughter of Alexander and Hannah Vannoy Huffman; Lucinda (b: AUG 1822) who married Daniel Huffman, son of Alexander and Hannah Vannoy Huffman; Susannah (b: 3 OCT 1824), who married Eli Shock; Nancy Isabella (b: 8 JAN 1826) who married Benjamin Gainer Vannoy, Alpheus W. Black, and John G. Springston; Drusylla (b: 1829) who married Benjamin Huffman, son of Alexander and Hannah Vannoy Huffman; Salathiel (b: 23 JAN 1832), who married Permelia Ann Stalnaker; Melville (b: 24 MAY 1834), who married Mary Westfall and Rachel Shock; Henson; Bailey (b: 22 DEC 1839), who married Sarah "Sallie" Sutton, daughter of Hon. Felix and Susan Skidmore Sutton; and Ruhala Stump (b: 3 OCT 1842), who married Rev. Levi J. Huffman, son of Alexander and Hannah Vannoy Huffman.
Jacob Stump received at least four land grants from the Commonwealth along the Right Fork of Steer Creek and Crooked Fork in Gilmer County WV, totaling about 650 acres. It may be that he was buried on his land, or at the burying ground of his parents, though there is no grave marker.

I will now give my recollection of Jacob Shock, who married Mary, a daughter of Benjamin Green, who lived about the mouth of Laurel creek on Elk river above Sutton. Jacob Shock came to Steer Creek and settled at the mouth of what is known as Shock's Mill run, where Rosedale now is, about the year of 1825, whose children were Robert who married Margaret Stump a daughter of Michael Stump Jr., Elizabeth, Sarah who married Archie Boggs, a son of James Boggs of Elk river, a son of the old original Charley Boggs, referred to in the onset of this narration. Alexander, whore wife was Eliza Stamp, a daughter of Absolom Stump Sr. Mary married Miller Jake Stump, a son of Absolom Stump Sr. Rachael who was Melville Stump's second wife, he being a son of Jacob Stump Sr. Eli whose wife was Suzannar, Jacob Stump Sr's second (daughter. Mariah married Alexander Meadows. Jacob who married Jemima Boggs, a sister to my first wife. Talitha who married Warren Bourn and Perry who married Druzilla Stout, a daughter of Samuel Stout of Harrison County.
