Absolom Stump was the son of Michael III and Magdalene Richards Stump. He married Margaret Bush (1802-1854), daughter of Jacob and Margaret Swan Bush, on 24 JUN 1819, in Lewis County VA, now WV. Absolom and Margaret Bush Stump had sons: Jacob John who married Mary "Polly" Vannoy; John who married Elizabeth Huffman; Dennis who married Mary Brannon and Catharine Boone, daughter of Jacob and Martha Sands Boone; Silas who married Catharine Ann Stalnaker; Perry who married Elizabeth Smith; Alexander H. who married Catharine V.
