Marie Chase, 90, of Slater died Monday, April 19, 2010, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Slater United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jess Spurgin officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, will accompany the congregation in singing "God Be with You Till We Meet Again" and "Because He Lives." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Bennett, Mike Bennett, David Davidson, James Davidson, Corey Holsted and Brayden Minor. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Dec. 7, 1919, in Stark City, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Birdie Rosenbum Jordan. On Jan. 4, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Hubert Chase, who preceded her in death June 7, 1990. She was a member of Slater United Methodist Church where she formerly sang in the choir, was a member of Kum Join Us Sunday school class, United Methodist Women and Ruth Circle. She retired from Banquet Foods in Marshall in 1982. She had resided in Slater since 1974, moving from California.
She is survived by a son, DeWayne Kidd of Sedalia; 14 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Delbert Kidd; two daughters, Charlene Davidson and Joyce Bennett; seven brothers; three sisters; a grandson; a granddaughter; and a great-great-granddaughter.
