Carolyn Louise Smith, 64, of Sheridan passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 after fighting her second round of cancer. She was the daughter of Euna Roach and the late Merle Roach. Carolyn was born September 25, 1946 in Dalhart, Texas. She married Billy Jay Smith Sr. on July 25, 1964. Carolyn was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister. She loved quilting, canning and animals of all kinds. She was preceded in death by her father, sister, three brothers and her husband of 43 years. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Brown of Sheridan; son, Billy Smith Jr. of Sheridan; four grandchildren, Tausha Brown, Thomas Taylor, Shawna Brown and Cassie Smith, all of Sheridan along with seven sisters, two brothers and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Buie Funeral Chapel with Brother Neal Pumphrey officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan.
