Notes for Aaron David (Spouse 1)
Military: War of the Rebellion, Union, Private, Company G, Kansas 12th Volunteer Infantry Regiment (1862-1865)
His middle initial D either stands for David or Davis, still searching. Family members have been told both depending on whom you are talking to.

Obit 1:
Aaron Showalter, one of our most respected citizens, died at his home north of town Sunday and was buried at Welda Monday. Rev. Mr. Neal conducting the obsequies. he was born in Jackson County, Indiana, in 1847 and came to this vicinity about ten years ago. He was one of sixteen children, of whom two brothers and one sister survive him. He was a devoted Christian, belonging to the Seventh Day Baptist denomination. He leaves a wife and eight children, who have the sympathy of numerous friends. (Colony Free Press)

Obit 2:
Welda Waffles
Aaron D. Showalters, an old soldier and respected citizen of Welda township, aged 48 years, died at his home 3 miles south of town, Sunday morning, after a long and painful illness with typhoid pueunmonia, and his remains were interred in the Welda cemetery Monday. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. M. Neal, of Seventh Day Adventist church of Iola, Mr Showalter having been a consistent member of that denomination for a number of years. The deceased enlisted in an regiment in '62, and served until the close of the war. Thus one by one the "old boys" are answering to the roll call on the other shore. (Garnett Republican-Plaindealer)
