Carol Louise Hurt Hudson, 79, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 12:35 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 while in the company of family members, at Via Christi ,St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.

Carol was born in Hays, Kansas on July 17, 1938, a daughter of Lola Maxine (Alexander) Hurt-Hinkhouse and Harold "Cap" Ellsworth Hurt.

Carol attended Hays Elementary, Hays Junior High and graduated from Hays High School in 1956. She then attended and graduated from Fort Hays University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church McPherson, Kansas.

Through the years Carol was a wonderful mother of four and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Carol worked as a teacher in Turkville Elementary, Sharon Springs grade school and Marion elementary school. She then was a secretary and receptionist for the First United Methodist Church and also worked at K-Mart for several years. She retired from Farmers Alliance Insurance Agency as a customer service representative.

Carol was a member of several McPherson bridge clubs, and the McPherson Bowling League. Carol enjoyed traveling with her husband and her bowling team, working crafts, loved painting, reading, was known for her homemade jelly, loved the holidays, her cats, quilting and spending time with her kids and grand kids.

Carol Louise Hurt was united in marriage to John James Hudson on September 11, 1957 in Hays, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Hays, Kansas. They then moved to Sharon Springs, Kansas for five years, moved to Marion, Kansas for four years where their son Mike was born. After moving to McPherson, Kansas in 1970 the union was blessed with their three daughters Jennifer, Laurie and Michelle.

She is survived by her husband John Hudson, of McPherson, Kansas, her son Mike Hudson and his wife Maureen of Kansas City, Missouri, her daughters Jennifer Wright and her husband Brian, of Wichita, Kansas, Laurie Hudson, of McPherson, Kansas and Michelle Benge and her husband Curtis, of Wichita, Kansas; her sister Wanda Hurt and her husband Mark King, of Columbia, Maryland; her 12 Grandchildren - Tasha Jenkins (Kevin), Christopher Hudson, Matthew Hudson, Kathryn O'Brien (Scott), Lauren Wright, Mason Pearson, MacKenzie Pearson, Marisa Pearson, Conrad Neiman (Staci), Brooklinn Neiman, Tristan Benge, and Emilee Benge;11 Great-grandchildren - Kevin Jenkins, Abigail Jenkins, Eva O'Brien, Liam O' Brien, Brody O'Brien, Walker O'Brien, MacKenzie O'Brien, Ryker Pearson, Connor Pearson, Easton Pearson, Addeline Neiman,

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson.

The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 with Reverend Darren Frazier officiating.

The final resting place will be at McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McPherson County Humane Society, and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
