Cecil was a veteran of World War II. He entered service on August 9, 1943. He was discharged on March 17, 1946. He served at the rank of Technician Fourth Grade. He served in the signal section. He did his basic training in California. His tour of duty was in the Pacific.
Cecil was a member of Cedarville Church, Dade County, Missouri.
Cecil later moved to Lamar, Missouri where he lived with his mother at 913 East 12th Street.
Cecil worked for Lawn Boy, Lamar, Missouri. He later worked for Findley Engineering Company, Lamar, Missouri.
Cecil enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Cecil was killed in an automobile accident on May 9, 1965 in Lawrence County, Missouri. He is buried in Howell Cemetery, Milford Township, Barton County, Missouri.
Brother of Nevada Men Killed in Auto Crash
Cecil Lloyd Rector, 46, of Lamar, brother of Loren and Leon Rector of Nevada, was killed last night in a head-on collision of two cars on U. S. 66, four miles east of Miller. He was a passenger in a car driven by, Galon Jackson, 21, Joplin, who was not thought to be seriously injured. Both men were employees of
the Findley Engineering Company of Lamar, and were enroute to a job at Potosi, when the accident occurred.
The Highway Patrol said the Jackson car came up behind the slow-moving traffic in the rain and when he applied the brakes he skidded into the path of a car driven by James Johnson of Joplin. The driver and a passenger in his car, Elsie Brown of Joplin, were hospitalized.
Mr. Rector was born in Barton County, August 29, 1918, the son of Ola and Marie Rector. He was reared in the Jerico Springs and Milford areas and had made his home in Lamar for the past 10 years. Mr. Rector was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Cedarville Church, near Jerico Springs.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Ola Rector of Lamar; three brothers, Orville Leroy Rector of Jasper, and Loren and Leon Rector, both of Nevada.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Cedarville Church, near Jerico Springs, under the direction of the Beeny Funeral Home of Sheldon. Internment will be in the Howell Cemetery near Milford.342
