Sweany - Mrs. Jerusha Ann Sweany, age 86, died at her home at Seymour Sunday afternoon at 4:50 o’clock. She had been ill with a complication of diseases about four weeks.

Furneral services were conducted at the home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock with Dr A. A Cohn, pastor of the Baptist church, in
charge.

Mrs. Sweany was a native of Jackson county. She was born to John and Elizabeth Gardner Cox near Farmington October 19. 1853, and spent her entire life in this county. In June, 1872, she was married to Alexander T Sweany, who died April 29, 1930.

She is survived by six children: Mrs E . E . Stillabower of Columbus: Mrs J. U. Montgomery, of Reddington: Mrs. John Willkom, of Mott, North Dakota; Charles Sweany, o f Crothersville; Mrs. Edgar Otto, of Seymour: Mrs. William Sprague. of Bedford; thirty-four grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

AT Sweany, 85, Succumbs following Three Weeks' Suffering with Injury

FUNERAL IS THURSDAY

A. T. Sweany age 85, Civil War veteran succumbed to three weeks' suffering with an injured hip at his home, 726 Euclid Avenue, this morning at 11:30 o'clock.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the residence and burial will be made in Riverview cemetery. The body will be laid at rest with full military honors. Mr. Sweany was a member of the local post of the G.A.R.

Mr. Sweany was born, reared, and had spent his entire life in this community. One June 20 1872, he united in marriage to Miss Jerusha Cox here in Seymour and ten children were born to this union.

A daughter and two sons are dead, but the veteran’s widow survives with the following seven children, Mrs. E. E Stillabower of Columbus, Mrs. Anna Montgomery of Seymour; Mrs. William Sprague of Bedford; Mrs. Edgar Otto of Seymour; John Sweany of Seymour; Charles Sweany of Austin and Mrs. John Willkom of Mott, ND.

All of the family with the exception of the daughter in North Dakota were at the bedside when the end came. Mr. Sweany is also survived by a sister, Mrs. F. H. Huffman, of Seymour, who is 93 years old, and thirty four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
