Funeral Today

VIGO (Special) — Services for Loyd Cecil Bullock, 62, will be at 3 p.m. today in the Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jams Allison of Lockney and the Rev. Carl Hogue, pastor. Burial will be in the Wayside Cemetery directed by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulsa.

Bullock died Wednesday at his home here of an apparent heart attack.

Bullock was born in Hall County and reared in Briscoe County. He had been a resident of Virgo for 32 years. He is a former JA Ranch cowboy and served as trustee of the San Jacinto school district 18 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha; two sons, Delbert Gail of Silverton and Jerry Don of Tulsa; a daughter, Mrs. Melba Sue Slate of Amarillo; two brothers Walter and Charley, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Pricie Rhea of Amarillo, and Mrs. Cleo Cothern of Tucumcari, N. M., and nine grandchildren.

Bertha Bullock Holder, 97, of Amarillo died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Corky Holland of First Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Wayside Cemetery in Wayside. Arangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Bertha was very active in Senior Citizens of Amarillo and held numerous positions in the organization. She was a member of Rebbecah's Lodge and also volunteered at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital.

Bertha was very active with home demonstration clubs and in her church, serving the Lord in vacation bible school and Sunday School. Most of all, she loved the company of others and playing games.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Bullock; and two sons, Gail Bullock and Dwayne Bullock.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Bullock and wife Diana of Tulia; a daughter, Sue Russell of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Baten of Pampa and Myrtle Verden and husband James of Wheeler; and a host of other family and friends.
