Hugh Cummins3. Born Guilford County, North Carolina about 1779, married Kezia/Keziah Davis, Knox County 12-30-1801. Kozee, Pioneer Families, supra, p.67; Hopper, Tri-County Knox-Laurel-Whitley Early Marriages, 976.91 H798t, p.25. A landless Hugh Commons (sic) is on the 1800 Knox County tax list. Early Kentucky Tax Records, supra; on the 1801 tax roll, as Cummen, he has no land. Hugh Cummins was recommended to the Governor as a person to serve as a Justice of the Peace in Knox at the May 1810 Term of Court. Knox County Order Book A, p.369. It is not known when or where he died, although Early says he was in Whitley County as late as 1833, when he signed a bill of sale relating to his father's estate. The 1840 Missouri census shows a Hugh in Jackson County.
