Notes for Dryden Dole DONALDSON
He served in the Union forces in the Civil War as a Corporal in Captain Goddard’s Co., 3rd Tennessee Cavalry. He enlisted on August 10, 1862 and was discharged on June 12, 1865. During the war, he was captured. He survived the sinking of the steamship Sultana, but died soon after discharge, probably from injuries.47

The September 1864 Civil War Battle of Sulphur Trestle, in Limestone County, cut a crucial Union supply line and was a victory for the Confederate forces under Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest. The engagement over the railroad bridge was the bloodiest to take place in north Alabama. Dryden was taken prisoner at this battle. He was a Union soldier.

Dryden Dole Donaldson was a Corporal in Capt. Goddard's Company, 3rd Tennessee Cavalry (Civil War - Union Army). He enlisted 10 Aug 1862, and was discharged 12 Jun 1865. He was captured and survived the sinking of the steamship Sultana, but died a few weeks later of injuries or exposure.
